The UMOCA Artist-in-Residence Program is the only long-term artist residency designed specifically to meet the needs of artists living in Utah. Utah artists will be selected primarily based on demonstrated artistic potential, commitment to working in a contemporary idiom, willingness to participate in a robust and intellectually-engaged community of artists, and readiness to devote the time necessary to advance their professional careers to the next level.

Description

This program is designed for self-motivated, local and regional, emerging artists who are seeking to advance their artistic career, craft, or a specific project within the community arts studio setting. We are currently seeking ceramic artists for Winter/ Spring 2026.

Designed to provide space, time, and support for artistic development, the Sweetwater Artist in Residency Program will welcome local and regional emerging artists into our ceramic studio for a three-month tenure. Residents will have access to our fully equipped ceramics facilities, and are encouraged to pursue self-directed projects while engaging with the community arts environment that defines Sweetwater. The residency is open to artists looking to refine their craft, expand their body of work, and contribute meaningfully to a shared creative space.

Description

An Individual Residency provides uninterrupted periods of time in the beautiful environment of Collemacchia in Italy’s Molise region, home to Tracy’s Italian family for centuries.

There is no expectation of a final outcome. Whether you wish simply to be up close to your practice, allow nature to suffuse your thinking and feeling, produce new work or complete a project, at The Museum of Loss and Renewal the utmost will be done to ensure that you can achieve what you set out to do. Residents receive support and informal mentoring from Tracy and Associates during the residency period, and ongoing support after the residency.

Description

For each program, we select a group up to 10 international and local artists, curators and researchers. The group shares working spaces and participates in a number of activities as each one immerse in new or ongoing projects.

During the program public presentations are organized and the residency culminates in an open studio which is an integral part of our program of exhibitions. The exhibition is open to the public for the last days of the residency, during which special visits and presentations are coordinated.
